Real World Research, Virtual Learning, New Learning

The global vision of GLOTRESS-7E

We work passionately to address the skills shortages in research-intensive knowledge work and the unequal distribution of such talent globally.

Why 7E?

Our driving ethos in education is to enable learners to acquire competences in 7Es of Education and Human Development, namely: Expertise, which refers to technical knowledge of specific disciplines; Experience, which refers to opportunities to use the expertise in multi environments; Entrepreneurship, which covers the principles and mindset for building innovative businesses; Enterprise Development, actually building and registering such businesses with in a country; Employability, which is about embedding job related skilks in curricula as well as acquiring such skills at work; Emotional Intelligence, which encompass a range of soft skills for successfully relating and collaborating with people in different areas of work; and Execution, the core skills for getting things done efficacious (integrated project management and business analysis skills, for example).

Addressing the unequal distribution of talent globally

We experience a culture shock on the part of international students from developing countries like Nigeria, Libya and Ghana who arrive UK to do postgraduate studies (MSc, MBA and PhD). This shock is about adjusting to the expectations of critical independent learning which they are not properly prepared for, given the gaps in university education and lack of resources in those environments.

It impoverishes their learning and saps their confidence, leading to poor grades in coursework and difficulties making significant progress in projects, dissertations and theses.

Sometimes academics from those environments need upskilling in their capacities to conduct critically original and meaningful research during and after their PhD training.

In GLOTRESS, www.glotress.co.uk, a spin-off from the International Centre for Research and Enterprise Development (ICRED, www.oseluxworldher03e.com),

we provide exemplary training and research support to academics and students who want an inside track on how to successfully plan and implement their research.

We also extend such support to professionals who use research to innovate their business development strategies.

The services in GLOTRESS include:

  • Advanced Research Methods Academy
  • Graduate Research Support Services
  • 7E Professors
  • 7E Master Tutors
  • Business Development Academy
  • Follow-on support in life-long learning and research

These services intensely address:

  • the research needs of academics and students (first two services);
  • the day-to-day critical study skills of university students related to excelling in their coursework and examinations (7E Professors);
  • similar tutorials for secondary school and pre-university students aspiring to study in leading universities in the world (7E Master Tutors);
  • related translation of academic learning to business success (Business Development Academy), and;
  • life-long follow-on learning and research support.

The follow-on support is mainly in form of:

  • PhD supervision;
  • Advanced research fellowships and post-docs;
  • Mentorships, internships, apprenticeships;
  • Guidance and counselling for career and work-life balance;
  • Life-coaching.

These services are reinforced analytically through in-depth research and enterprise development work conducted in AfriWorldhero 3E schools and related spin-offs; see www.oseluxworldhero3e.com.

Our expertise is distributed across world regions and universities, through affiliate research consultants led by Dr Patrick Oseloka Ezepue, who is Director of Research and Enterprise Development. See Patrick’s profile below.

Profile

Dr Patrick Oseloka Ezepue is the Director of Research and Enterprise Development at the African Higher Education & Research Observatory UK (http://www.afrihero.org.uk), and its global face, Oselux World Higher Education & Research Observatory 3E (Worldhero 3E, http://www.oseluxworldhero3e.com), and a former Visiting Professor of Stochastic Modelling in Finance and Business, National Mathematical Centre, Nigeria.

Patrick was Research Lead for Statistics, Information Modelling & Financial Mathematics (SIMFIM) Research Group, Sheffield Hallam University, UK. He currently leads this innovative multidisciplinary research effort in AfriWorldhero 3E.

Patrick’s primary research domains include: Philosophy of Science & Knowledge Production; Stochastic Processes and their Applications in FIEBB (Finance, Insurance, Economics, Banking and Business); Statistical Modelling and Informatics; Business Analytics including Business Analysis, Data Mining, Data Science, Big Data analytics, and computational modelling; Financial Mathematics.

Patrick has related secondary and pedagogical research interests in Applied Mathematics and Operational Research; Quantitative Social Science; Entrepreneurship, Enterprise Development and Employability (3E) Education; Higher Education Research and Innovation; and the Pedagogy of Modelling and Mathematical Sciences.

Through Afrihero and Worldhero 3E, Patrick internationally leads interdisciplinary research linking these disciplines to Global Issues, Development Studies, Applied Research and Consulting. Hence, he originated a corporate academic model (CA Model ©) for structuring theoretically deep and practice-laden research topics, which can easily be spun-off as social enterprises and born-global firms with Google-like characteristics.

Consequently, Patrick has supervised more than 13 PhD and 25 MSc students in these areas. He successfully led several initiatives and research grants which attracted more than £500,000. Currently, Patrick uses the CA Model © and a research-informed 3E Business Development System ©, to lead cross-cutting strategic grants in the above domains, linked to local, state, national, regional, continental, and the 2030 United Nations Strategic Development Goals (SDGs) (more than $1bn in value, circa).

Citizenship: British and Nigerian

Key Vision

Patrick’s core academic vision is to: offer world class corporate academic research, teaching and community services in the above research and enterprise development subject areas; master relevant world systems, for example educational, economic and political systems, which generate challenging problems; and develop new kinds of academics, graduates and professionals, who are extraordinarily empowered to use multidisciplinary knowledge to resolve the problems, with creating, synthesising, responsible, and ethical mind-sets.

In pursuance of this vision, Patrick facilitates innovative workshops, seminars, external lectures, masterclasses, practice-based colloquia, and delivers key-note conference papers in theoretical and applied topics within his ken (see related notes in the External Profile below).
